Do you or a loved one enjoy 'The Great Pottery Throw Down'?
Discover the different ways to make pottery and find your favourite aspect for a great new hobby.
Come on your own or with family members to discover more about this creative art form. The indoor pottery studio is warm, brightly lit with plenty of ventilation and space for Covid-safe learning. All materials, tools and equipment will be provided.
Running as half-day sessions of at least 3 hours, these pottery tasters run for individuals or groups of up to 4 people. We arrange a day and time that best suits you. Separate toilet facilities are on site.
The session starts with a look at various pottery pieces, discussing how they are made and then an explanation of the main production techniques; Slab building, Coiling, Press Moulding, Wheeled or Slip casting. Each person then can select an item of interest to make for themselves from a selection of samples and in the production method they wish to try - or decorate an existing bisque fired pottery item from our stock collection.
Tuition, guidance and help will be shown throughout to enable anyone the pleasure of creating their own work, which culminates in stamping or signing their name/initials on the base.
Help will be given to make sure each person achieves at least two quality items* that can be dried, then fired later - either to be collected or posted on. (*additional charges might apply depending on items chosen).
If anyone wishes to work on subsequent construction, decoration or glazing ahead of a second firing, then any additional costing can be confirmed during the taster session.
Book your date in advance via voucher redemption to enjoy this pottery session on any Wednesday through to Saturday between March and November.
- How wonderful to tell all your family and friends about your creative skills!
- Any upgrade to your desired output can be discussed in the first workshop and any additional costs confirmed. You can attend subsequent workshops for a nominal fee per day with any clay and materials at cost. Firing will be quoted on the kiln space taken.
Ian trained with the highly-respected master bonsai pot artist, David Jones, of Walsall Studio Ceramics and gained a Creative Craft Ceramics qualification from Walsall College of Technology in 2005. Recently in opening his own Bonsai School and Nursery, he has dedicated time to refresh and refine his own techniques in creating stoneware containers that carry his own individual style.
Select your choice of individuals in attendance from the dropdown list (to a maximum of four) as you complete this online listing or call to discuss ahead of booking.
